In the silence of this quite night
When I fail to rhyme …
Play me -
Play me will you;

Hit the strings that bind me and you
And few notes that I taught you …
Improvise me -
Improvise me will you;

When no longer the sleight of your fascination
Extols my celebration of you …
Delight me -
Delight me will you;

Rhyme the rhythm, scale up that quarter note
Look, see me through that resplendent orb …
Surprise me -
Surprise me will you;

And when the chorus picks up, culminating our joy
Hear carefully for that base tone …
Surrender me -
Surrender me will you;

As a musician, this poem had special meaning to me - well done indeed.

Often the relationship a musician has with his instrument is closer than he can achieve with any other person.

This poem is like a fine tapestry.. each thread mesmerizing ..the greatest pleasure is in the concluding stanza.. quite amazing ..

Perhaps its me .. but I think this has a sufi touch. The feelings it has managed to evoke in me are so (for the lack of a better term) divine that the inspiration behind this wonderful piece can not be 'earthy'

Music is always an enjoyment, when we pay on our own it excites more. I felt it mentioning me about my music on keyboard, which I was not in touch for short long time...

Rob Hopcott: Thanks indeed ... how true, when we have a passion whether be it music or otherwise, and we are able to follow it, everything else becomes elementary or rather supplementary
