He kept walking promising himself at each step, the state of emotions that he desired. But then discontentment is addictive … one despises it .. grows tired of its capers but some where deep down loves its quarrelsome nature like a man in love with a termagant.

Discontentment is deep rooted in desires. “Desires … Bah!”, he thought. And he kept walking further and further towards the prairie. The beauty bogged him down. The landscape humbled him and he wondered, how could all that was troubling him could have troubled him so much. Inconsequential. And he lighted another pack ….

Excellent insight Alok. Desire does bring discontent though few recognize this. Nature offers so much for free - many do not accept. Loved this.

I can see this as a little film :D

Is it Bhuddhism that seeks to extinguish desire? Life would be more peaceful without it but would it be worth living? ;D

Typical of the men I know, Alok..

Not the nature part -- except three-four poets/thinkers in the list --But the lighting another pack part :))

Enjoyed the read..

How true and we blame or wait to disagree most of the time.

Jeevs: thanks a lot.

------------------------------------------

Jyoti: Nothing re ... not meaningful I guess. I was toying with the idea of how we expect and get bogged down by our own expectations

------------------------------------------

Jeevan: thanks mate that you felt like that

----------------------------------------

Janice: thanks a lot. yes nature offers so much for free .. when u just let yourself loose

-----------------------------------------

Miladysa: A documentary film :) My take is desires are important . they are needed for survival and moving on in life .. and we also work hard to attain what we desire ... what is undesirable is the expectation of fulfillment of those desires ... the expectation of a positive result at all times .. from personal experience I can say that is what leads to discontentment ..

------------------------------------------

Devika, thanks .. I know a lot of women who do tht too :) no gender in equality there and definitely not something that is desirable

-----------------------------------------

Priya, very valid point .. thanks a lot

Andrew, I wish I could write a haiku ... i tried once and it turned out so bad that havent tried it ever since :)
