alok. I enjoyed reading this. And thank you, .... you have sent me to the dictionary! But it was no help with 'miniate'. I googled and found that miniate is a word in what looks like a latin language, Italian?... maybe it means illuminated? Hummm, that seems to go with 'summer sky'. Am I right? Why is the lily 'indiscreet'? Is it because the observer's eyes are 'indecent'? (Have I missed the clue as to why the observer of nature would be indecent?)
One other perplexity. Help me with scouring? Dirty pots are scoured to clean. In another sense, sheep scour when they are ill (...& that is very messy). I am not sure what you mean by a hawthorn scouring?
Priya, thank u ... u r absolutely right … yes even in lonliness, there is beauty in dreams

Steve [Ish], thank u … I m so glad u enjoyed it
I was fiddling with too many emotions in this verse and I guess it did catch ur attention :)
U have again raised very valid questions and to answer them, I request your time to let me explain the thoughts that went behind the words ….
While writing this two different sets of yearning was perceived by me
- yearning for freedom (struggle to break away from the routine and normalcy and establish an identity) -yearning for companionship
The first one is personified by the hawthorn and the second one in the form of a yellow lily
The hawthorn was loosing its identity amongst the bushes, it yearns for it’s own identity beyond those bushes … however the bushes wants them to be part of them …. and does everything possible to mar his perception and impose their ideas but the hawthorn knew it had to find its own way beyond the bushes, the hawthorn was not discouraged … one summer morning he decided enough is enough and tries to set itself free…. He is faced with resistance from the bushes and in the struggle he realises that he must find other ways and with the problem of being rooted at the same place for existence, extends one of its branch, struggling thru the bushes, groping for available space he searches for the sky … the search of his identity, the effort to reach out to another world that he believes is his, he scours because he wants to remove the fiber of similar identity that has become part of his structure and search for a personality that is his, his own …. and after a long struggle he is able to overcome the position and ultimately reaches out to the sky …
The observer finds solace from this and is filled with assurance that he too will be able to find his identity, there might be struggle involved but surely he will be successful if he doesn’t give up ….
The assurance soothes out the observer, and he keeps looking on when his eyes are set at a nearby pond which is radiant in the early morning sun … he finds a lonely yellow lily floating around, he is absorbed by its beauty perceives it as a beautiful lady whom he would like to have in his life, The yellow lily knows she is beautiful and she doesn’t try to hide the fact, modesty is not part of her upbringing and though she is alone, she is happy, she knows she is wanted but she cares all the less, there is a sense of pride in her attitude and irrespective of all around she indirectly follows its own path and journey with abandon ease, this quality strikes the observer, he yearns for it but the indiscretion is too much to bear, thereby a sense of selfishness coupled with indecency creeps into him for he wld like to have her at any cost …..
As for the usage of the words
‘miniate’ is indeed a latin word, it means to paint with red …. Somehow scarlet didn’t suit the purpose here because I wanted to emphasize on beauty of a red sky and illumination as well combined together …
‘scouring’ as u correctly pointed out ‘Dirty pots are scoured to clean ..” it is also used to describe an activity of looking thoroughly in order to find something …. my intention of using tht word and not ‘search’ was to have a combined impact of both the usage … whereby it is searching for its own identity and at the same time rubbing off the perceptions imposed by the others for only then can he actually shine
And as for the indecency, it is the opposite, the indiscretion make the observer indecent
I hope I have not taken too much of liberty in using the words … and I cannot thank u enough for reading my scribbling, thank u so much

Inside our hands, outside our hearts, ur visits give me immense enjoyment … thank you so much for reading
